The Water Horizon Project

Water Horizon commissions its first industrial thermal battery!

This battery will provide renewable heat and cold, free of greenhouse gases (GHGs). The project aims to utilize the waste heat from the Toulouse (France) incinerator by transporting it to the A. Jany sports complex, which includes a swimming pool and an ice rink.

In addition to its ability to store and transport heat, the battery can convert it into cold, thus addressing both uses of the sports complex: heating the swimming pool and cooling the ice rink.

Water Horizon will thus deliver 4 GWh of heat and 2 GWh of cold per year, representing a saving of 13,600 tonnes of CO2 over ten years, notably thanks to zero-emission transport.

An innovative and circular solution

Industrial waste heat is a significant and underutilized source of energy. One of the main challenges for large-scale heat recovery concerns the connection and storage of energy between the heat producer and the thermal energy consumer.

Thanks to the development of its battery, Water Horizon will help overcome this challenge by storing  and transporting thermal energy up to 50 km between the waste heat producer and the thermal energy consumer.

The Water Horizon solution ensures a constant supply of thermal energy due to its long-term storage capabilities. Furthermore, thanks to its business model: Cooling as a Service (CAAS), Water Horizon takes care of everything! We handle the entire process (facility maintenance, project management, etc.) and thus guarantee an uninterrupted supply of thermal energy to our clients, without disruption to their business and at a fixed cost.

A reproducible project in almost every sector

The Water Horizon battery is not only a symbol of energy efficiency, but it also embodies the flexibility and adaptability of the solution with its ability to adjust to customer energy demands. Indeed, thanks to intelligent regulation, it adjusts its operation according to the power required.

Additionally, the battery offers thermal versatility, capable of providing temperatures from -10°C to 80°C and recovering heat up to 200°C; thus, it can meet the unique requirements of each project.

Therefore, with its standardized, flexible, and adaptable battery, Water Horizon paves the way towards a more sustainable and greener energy future.
